Series A Investor Partnership - Food and Drink sector
The Series A investor partnership is a competition which is geared towards UK registered SMEs working in the food industry.
The overarching objective of this funding is to encourage investment in companies who are aspiring to achieve net zero emissions food production by 2040 by developing and implementing precision technologies and data driven solutions.
To receive a share of the £5m, the SME also needs to secure investment of at least twice the amount of the grant sought through investors associated with the programme. The SME must first submit its proposal to be assessed by Innovate UK and subject to passing the quality threshold, would be formally invited to attend the investor readiness bootcamp to meet the investors and pitch their ideas – in a similar fashion to Dragons’ Den! These investors would, in addition to providing investment, be offering their skills, resources and market access so that the company’s goal of net zero emissions comes to fruition.
In order to be eligible for the funding, the project must:
- start by 1 October 2021;
- end by 21 March 2023;
- last 18 months; and
- have total eligible costs between £1m-£3m.
The project must also focus on one or more of the following:
- development of precision solutions and systems to achieve net zero emissions for food production;
- improving productivity of the agricultural sector;
- developing export opportunities; and/or
- stimulating the establishment of novel high value production systems.
The competition opens on 4 November 2020 and the closing date is 13 January 2021 and you can apply here.
