KBIS acquisition of Stoneways Insurance Services

KBIS acquisition of Stoneways Insurance Services

“We are delighted to have acted for KBIS on their acquisition of Stoneways Insurance Services. The deal demonstrated EMW’s ability to work within tight timescales in order for the deal to complete at the end of a busy financial year. It was a great pleasure to work with Guy and the team at KBIS, and we look forward to working with them in the future as they continue to expand their business.”

We recently advised the UK’s leading independent horse insurance specialists, KBIS Holdings Limited (KBIS), on their acquisition of Stoneways Insurance Services Limited (Stoneways), a company which has provided horse insurance since 1990 and offers a range of different insurance policies. The acquisition of Stoneways will not only strengthen KBIS’ existing equestrian insurance business but will allow it to diversify and offer a range of insurance policies such as trailer insurance and pet insurance.

The EMW team was led by Lucy Hartslief and Sean Halliwell

KBIS is already a significant player in the UK’s equestrian insurance market, after acquiring THB British Equestrian in 2007. KBIS has built its reputation on its independence within the specialist industry, excellent customer service and a fast and efficient claims process. The Berkshire based company already has a team of thirty staff with equine experience, which has been strengthened by the addition of all of Stoneways’ staff members, including the friendly face of Stoneways’ office manager, Amy Baker. This will allow KBIS to continue delivering its exceptional service to existing Stoneways’ policyholders.

Guy Prest, Managing Director of KBIS, comments: “This was our first time instructing EMW and we were impressed with their ability to meet a tight deadline considering the number and complexity of documents to be agreed before completion on the last day of the financial year.”
