ICO enforcement against Care Homes

If you are a care home operator, please note that any business processing personal data is required to pay a data protection fee to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

The ICO has recently announced that the care home sector is under-represented on its register and it has, therefore, started targeted enforcement action against the sector for failure to pay fees.

The ICO is sending notices to care homes requiring payment of the fee or, in the event of non-payment, setting out its intention to issue fines. Care home businesses will have 21 days to respond to any notice.

To find out more, a link to the ICO’s announcement is available by clicking here.

To find out more about this, please contact Joe Soul, or you can give us a call om 0345 070 6000.
