We recently advised furniture manufacturer ocee design on their £10m investment to fund growth
“We are delighted to have acted for Ocee Design in securing investment from the BGF. The subsequent acquisition of Four Design will propel Ocee Design’s growth internationally. This deal demonstrates EMW’s expertise at advising businesses looking for funding on delivering the next stage of growth. Despite the uncertainty caused by Brexit, it’s clear that there’s still appetite to complete deals. We are looking forward to working with Ocee International as they continue their expansion and seeing what lies in store for them in the future.”
We recently advised commercial furniture supplier, Northampton based Ocee Design, on their £10m investment from the Business Growth Fund (BGF), the UK’s most active provider of growth capital to SMEs. The investment was utilised to support Ocee Design in their acquisition of Danish furniture designer Four Design. The group, Ocee International, is now looking to expand across European and global markets. We have worked with Ocee Design since 2010, becoming their lead legal advisors in 2016. The team was led by Ian Morris and included Kirsty Simmonds, Laura Whitfield and Daisy Divoka.
Ocee Design is already a substantial player in the UK’s commercial furniture market, having tripled its turnover in six years. The Northampton based supplier has a showroom locally as well as in London and employs 85 staff and will be able to further expand in the UK and globally following the BGF’s investment and the acquisition of Four Design. To support the acquisition of Four Design and future plans of Ocee International, Steve Halbert, former head of UK M&A at KPMG, is to join the board as Non-Executive Chairman.
Alistair Gough, CEO of Ocee Design comments: “The EMW team‘s knowledge and dedication in ensuring the job was done to the highest standard, meant that it really was a pleasure working with them on this deal.”
