Covid-19 Update regarding right to work checks
The process in which employer’s check the right to work has changed since the pandemic.The government have adjusted the process to take into consideration the restrictions that are currently in place in and around the UK.
With more and more employees being brought on remotely at the start of their new role, it was imperative that the way we used to operate changed. This adjusted process will remain in place until 20 June 2021. The government has provided this update in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The guidance issued by the government will allow employers to continue to carry out right to work checks over video calls. In addition it allows prospective employee's to send scanned copies of identity documents.
The government has also advised that they will not expect employers to carry out these checks on employees who have joined in the last 15 months once the pandemic comes to an end.
