Will it cost me anything?  

As already mentioned, a Personal Representative can be reimbursed for any out of pocket expenses from the estate such as travelling and for the death certificates.  There should be no reason why, provided you are acting reasonably and properly, your appointment as a Personal Representative should cost you anything.
