EMW advises on major energy from waste project

EMW has advised Enviroparks, a new energy from waste company, on £2.25m of fundraising and in securing planning approval for a major (£150m) waste recycling plant in Wales.

Enviroparks will develop and run new energy from waste plants using the latest thermal treatment processes to maximise the useful energy generated.

The financing was provided by Hotbed, the UK’s leading private investor syndicator.

Enviroparks has secured planning permission for its first site, on the Hirwaun Industrial Estate in South Wales. It is also investigating a number of other potential sites where large energy users such as data centres or cold storage providers could be co-located.

Giles Ferin, Principal at EMW who advised Enviroparks on planning matters, comments: “Energy from waste is an important sector as the UK seeks to meet European waste management targets and it presents significant challenges from a planning perspective.  We’re delighted to have helped Enviroparks secure its first planning permission and look forward to assisting with the development of other sites.”

Ian Zant-Boer (Principal - Corporate) advised Enviroparks on the funding agreement with Hotbed and led the EMW team which also included Simon Ingram and David Danskin (Principals - Real Estate) advising on property related aspects.
